This series is made as if it were a children's fairly tale without words. I've set an alchemist as a main and barely only character, and each image is a fragment of his daydream. With this project, I am trying to cross the boundary between real and imaginary. And my main theme here is to lead the viewers to start traveling in the world of imaginary, and create their own stories. To do so, I construct the whole scene that will be photographed, and shoot it with 8x10" film without any manipulation. My works are non-fiction fantasy. Magic is more effective if there is no trick.
Born in Tokyo. Studied photography at San Francisco Art Institute. Now, working as a fine art photographer based in Tokyo. Exhibiting works internationally such as Los Angeles, Milan, Seoul , Hong Kong and Taipei. All my works are made with a 8x10" camera, gelatin silver print and wet plate collodion. With my photography, I am trying to capture the invisible, and cross the boundary between real and imaginary.
