La Vedova Siciliana ('The Sicilian Widow') is a series inspired on the film style of the legendary neorealist Italian film director Vittorio De Sica, especially of his film 'La ciociara' in which the story is told of widowed shopkeeper, raising her devoutly religious twelve-year-old daughter, Rosetta, in Rome during World War II.
