William J. Rutter Center at UCSF Mission Bay is a multipurpose building which comprises of basketball courts, an outdoor pool, a gymnasium and numerous conference rooms. Designed by award-winning Ricardo Legorreta, an architect of Mexican decent, the magnificent building employs brilliant shades of sun-baked orange and blue as the color theme. The dramatic interplay of light and shadows create ample possibilities for architectural abstracts; resembling colorful cubist Mexican paintings.

Gigi Chung is a San Francisco-based fine-art photographer who mainly works in medium-format digital photography. She has come to focus on architectural abstracts with a minimalistic approach. Her art work has been exhibited in multiple galleries and museums in Athens, Chania, Cormons, Glasgow, Greenville, Portland, Minneapolis, Taipei, Trieste, Tokyo, San Francisco and Vermont. Some of Chung’s recent accolades include being selected as Kyotographie KG Plus featured artist, Tokyo International Foto Awards Top 5 Jury Pick and Architecture/Interiors Winner at 16th Julia Margaret Cameron Awards.
