Matera. The Matter of Time explores the ancient city as a carved landscape where architecture and geology converge. Beginning within the interiors of the Moyseion and extending across Matera, the project constructs a fragmented vision through surfaces, thresholds, and sequences of light. Natural, artificial, and firelight enter into dialogue with stone, revealing a city perceived not as a panorama but as a continuous stratification of matter, light, and time, where the fleeting instant of vision confronts the enduring permanence of rock. https://www.sfogliami.it/fl/330556/sv5m966gs917x8j1v28dk
From insular cities to industrial ones, from seaside environments to suburbs, from construction sites to material stockpiles, and from tourist spaces to temporary interiors, artificial light, and abandoned sites, a transversal methodology emerges, based on duration, stratification, and mutation. The work offers a critical vision of the city as an organism in continuous redefinition, in which permanence and temporariness, design and use, memory and consumption intertwine within a phenomenology of change observed over time.
