The Last Stand

Gold in Fine Art / Special Effects

The Last Stand reflects on resilience in the face of time—not as heroism or recognised value, but as the persistence of existence despite vulnerability, solitude and outward insignificance. Original digital photographs are transferred onto Polaroid i-Type film; the emulsion is then lifted and transferred by hand onto handmade watercolour paper. Unpredictable colour shifts, folds, tears and irregular edges loosen each image from fixed time and place. The tree becomes not a description of nature, but a fragile yet enduring trace of presence.

Sergiy Antonenko is a fine-art photographer based in A Coruña, Spain. His practice explores memory, fragility, resilience and transformation through remote landscapes, water, ice and experimental photographic processes. Working with digital photography and instant photography transformed through hand processes, he creates atmospheric series that move between observation and abstraction. His work has received international recognition, including 1st Place in Seascape at the Fine Art Photography Awards and a PX3 Bronze.
