The forecast said cloudy, with a minimum chance of clearing. But we had faith: later, slowly, the sky began to clear, and the aurora was arriving. The jagged peaks of Eystrahorn were rising like dark ancient guardians against the sky. The lake froze turning the still water into a surreal canvas of light and reflection: the night was getting colder but we didn't mind. The aurora unfurled in a luminous emerald crown, dancing in slow waves across the heavens, while a shimmering stretch of the Milky Way spills silver light along the horizon. Nature was whispering through the cold northern air.
