Federal agents detain a man after attending a court hearing at immigration court at the Jacob K. Javitz Federal Building. Since U.S. President Donald Trump took office, immigration arrests have gone up across the country and doubling in 38 states, according to new data from UC Berkeley’s Deportation Data Project. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has continued its stepped up tactics of detaining people during routine check ins or showing up to court for their immigration hearings.
