Day In Rio

  • Photographer
    Ricardo Abril Marinho

This candid series captures the everyday ritual of going to the beach in Rio de Janeiro—a space where Brazilian identity shines in its most vibrant and democratic form. Beaches in Brazil are public by law, allowing people from all walks of life to share the same sea and sun without barriers. More than leisure, the beach is a social equalizer and cultural stage. These images reflect themes of belonging, vitality, and connection with nature. Water is life—and here, it is shared freely and fully. In a divided world, this work honors joy, coexistence, and the quiet power of public rituals.

I’m a Brazilian photographer. Photography has been a personal passion since childhood. Although my background is in film and design, I have recently embraced photography as a form of artistic expression. My work focuses on the human element and its connection to the urban environment. I love to build visual narratives that reveal the intimate relationship between people and the city. I aim to capture the interactions that shape everyday life and the poetry that emerges from spontaneous encounters. I strive to uncover the quiet beauty and untold stories that surround us daily.
