Eagle hunting is one of the oldest traditions of Kyrgyz nomads. Despite a 70-year ban during Soviet rule, it has survived as a living heritage. More than a method of hunting, it symbolizes courage, freedom, and a deep bond between human, animal, and nature. Among the Kyrgyz, the golden eagle or Burkut, is more than a bird: it is a companion, a tablemate, even family. Dressed in traditional attire, eagle hunters preserve this ancient art across the vast plains and mountains of Kyrgyzstan.
