During winter, I make many wood-burning fires to help warm our home. This season, my kids bought a powder that said it would change the color of a fire's flames. We bought a packet, and it did turn parts of our fire different colors. The change of colors inspired me to take photos of the flames. Later when reviewing the pictures, I noticed what looked like the design of birds standing out in a few of the frames. My family and I had a wonderful time seeing the various colors dance upon our logs and enjoying the fire birds in the photos. Maybe the Greek mythological Phoenix bird does exist.

I have enjoyed taking pictures all my life. In March 2018, I captured a real-life snowflake resembling a flower. I fell in love with it and began pursuing macro photography. My photographs became the illustrations in my book series, Washed as White as Snow. The snowflake designs tell different aspects of the story of Jesus Christ's good news for the world. I believe God creates and uses the snowflakes to magnify how all creation glorifies Him by telling the story of His redeeming love for mankind. I enjoy taking nature photos and sharing God's beauty in plants, animals, and landscapes.
