This small but stunning frog, Raorchestes chlorosomma, is commonly known as the ‘green-eyed bush frog due to its beautifully streaked eyes. A Critically Endangered species, it is found in Munnar and parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu within the Western Ghats of India. Its habitat has been severely impacted by eucalyptus and tea plantations.

Since childhood, the wild has always intrigued me, the many trips to the forest of Nagarhole that my father would take me to were one of the main reasons that drew me towards nature. Also the tales from the Jungle book and the characters created by Rudyard Kipling transformed my imagination, then there were the tales of the forests in the surroundings of bangalore written by Kenneth Anderson that influenced me along with the stories of the famous Jim Corbett, the hunter turned conservationist that cemented my love for nature and wildlife photography.
