Poetry of Transience is a photographic series of diptychs that intertwine self-portraits with images of nature, weaving a unique narrative enriched by the verses of my haiku poems. This series is not just about our connection to nature—that, to me, is undeniable, for a human is not merely a part of nature but nature itself. Rather, it explores the traces we leave in time and the beauty found in transience and imperfection—both in nature and within ourselves. If we lived in constant awareness of our own transience, what would we become? Would the world around us become closer to poetry?
Following her formal education at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Danijela Macura pursued photography at a private school under the guidance of the renowned photography professor. She has utilized self-portraits and nature photography as her primary medium for exploring themes of femininity, vulnerability, acceptance, the beauty of imperfections of the human body, and our profound connection with our inner selves. She frequently incorporates symbols of flowers and motifs from the natural world to provoke deep introspection and sense of fragility of life itself.
