It is destined to be a progressive process of erosion, trauma, loneliness and reflection. A visual journey started through the lens, starting from the icebergs in Alaska, the New Zealand glaciers in the Pacific, and various locations in the Arctic Ocean and Antarctic waters. Finally, I returned to the Tropic of Cancer, hometown of Taiwan. The collection of these visual works connects a vast sea surface, sorting out traces of the creatures that inhabit it and human activities. It reminds us that the lungs of the earth are injured, as if being submerged by the sea.

Pi-Lin Liu is a Taiwanese artist working with photography and handcrafted platinum-palladium printing. Guided by The Quiet Axis of Earth, her practice explores time as a condition of becoming through walking, observation, and the material presence of the photographic print. Through PHOLENS Photography & Art and WhiteCrow78 Studio, she integrates digital image-making with handcrafted platinum-palladium printing as a unified artistic practice. Her photographs invite viewers to slow their pace of looking and experience the quiet rhythms through which the world continually unfolds.
