Ethiopian day of celebrations prior to a Bull Jumping ceremony. The traditional spot was a 4 mile trek. As we traipsed through an enormous sunbaked river bed I noticed a handful of Hamar children playing in the dirt. Taking a closer look, I realized something unimaginable. The young children were standing in a watering hole. I stopped in my tracks to observe a young boy submerging his empty bottle into the hole. He lifted the bottle of murky brown ground water, then raised it to his mouth and guzzled this precious source. The only alternative when riverbeds run dry.
