The title is the literal translation of the subject's name - Irele (humble, from his mother's language - Yoruba) Chukwu (god, from his father's language - Igbo). Born in Nigeria, Irele lived in Ukraine studying for his masters. When the bombs hit, like many, he was forced to flee. As a black man he was stopped and not allowed to cross the border, which resulted in him having to walk 100 km in freezing weather to get across into safety. I picked him up in Poland and he stayed with me and my partner for 3 months before leaving to figure out his future on his own.
