Every morning I go out for a walk and observe how much biodiversity can be found on the edge of an old country lane; it was this training in observation that gave me the stimulus to start the 'sponte plantis' project, photographing beautiful 'weeds' as if they were real human portraits. These simple wild plants, the true wealth of a territory that is now collapsing, represent for me the metaphor of beauty. "The beauty is in the weeds", I said to myself, and so for about six months I photographed a different plant almost every day. So let's slow down, let's stop. And let's take a look.
In my artistic photography, the silence that anticipates the shot comes from the awareness that very often what captures my attention may not be the final object of my portrait. During the listening pause, a change of perspective is generated which often reveals a more interesting reality than the one that initially attracted me. After having worked with passion and dedication for over 25 years as a printer, both in the darkroom and in the lightroom, and as a stage photographer in the theater to document shows, I got involved in the most beautiful show that exists: nature.
