I created this series while working through childhood trauma with a therapist. I tried to work through it myself in the past, but it never ended well for me. Even with a doctor, the PTSD symptoms started to become intolerable so I engaged in this special art therapy project. As a child with trauma, I grew up to be a very troubled adult. Because when you don't feel love from someone who should be genetically programmed to love you, for the rest of your life you will be wondering if you are an unlovable, worthless, ugly person or just so sick that you can't register love that was always there.

My name is Aliona Kuznetsova and I am a photographer. I believe that my art is a mashup of everything I saw, felt, thought, and experienced. More than this: through all my life – four countries I lived in, dozens of cities I traveled to, a mood disorder I am battling, meeting and parting with my closest friends – my art has been a silver lining that helped me day by day to refine the understanding of who I really am.
