Australia's Black Summer Bushfires were unprecedented, causing widespread property loss, deaths and ecological damage around the country. This series was captured over the course of a week as three fire fronts impacted the small town of Bilpin in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. The constant sound of helicopters, planes and sirens along with the confronting reality of firestorms and the devastating loss of peoples homes transformed the normally tranquil region into a warzone. Over 80% of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area was burnt during the Black Summer.
