Exploring ‘Identity’ through individuals who are bi-racial, live or were born in another country to reveal diverse perspectives. I’m born and bred a Japanese photographer living a Japanese life, but was a Korean national until recently. Like my family who were born and raised Japanese changed their nationalities to do things only open to Japanese. I envied those with a sense of belonging so I’ve always challenged what identity is. Though this project, connecting with different identities and races, I changed. These photographs explore these controversial meanings and concepts of ‘identity’.

Yuuki Shibata is a Japanese photographer and artist born and raised in Japan. This project was introduced in Tokyo Newspapers and has been awarded in the International Photography Awards 2019. Her photography and art projects have exhibited in many countries.
