This set of photos was taken in a small alley in Dali and Pingbian, Yunnan. As I passed by a yellow soil house, an old lady curled up deep in the room and focused on looking out the window, as if waiting for someone or something to happen. They and this land, the bricks, tiles, gravel, and houses they created, bear the memories of the past, the survival of the present, and the sustenance of the future. They, together they build a whole, they are a giant organism.
