Near Borneo lives a mysterious people, the Bajau. For them, water is not just a resource but the basis of their culture and a source of food. Their homes are boats or stilt houses right in the sea. Men fish, women keep house in harsh conditions. Children learn to swim before they walk. Yet today this fragile way of life is breaking down: the young move to land, traditional fishing and nomadic life lose meaning. While tradition keepers are still alive, we must preserve the memory of a people for whom the sea is not just home – it's the foundation of their identity.

Olga Vorontsova – photographer (b. 1976) She was born and raised in a small settlement in Yakutia, where, due to the climate, people are very close to nature and spend much time in contemplation. Thanks to the diverse culture of the people living in that place, from childhood she was surrounded by various myths and symbols, which later served as a source of inspiration and a topic for research in her artistic practice. In 1993, she moved to Moscow, where she currently lives. From 2022 to 2023, Olga studied at the Institute of Professional and Amateur Photography.
