Suspended Childhoods examines the moment when a child’s body begins to negotiate limits. Rather than portraying childhood as innocence or freedom, the project focuses on suspension, the brief interval between impulse and control, play and regulation. Through fragmented bodies, gestures, and states of imbalance, the work observes how discipline and caution are absorbed in everyday domestic spaces, often mediated between children themselves. The series approaches childhood not as memory, but as rehearsal: a bodily process shaped by repetition, adjustment, and subtle containment.

Lívia Peres is a brazilian photographer and mother of three. After the birth of her first daughter, she left behind urban life in Brazil to embrace a quieter, more nature-centered life in Switzerland. Her work focuses on the emotional landscapes of motherhood and childhood, capturing both their beauty and their challenges.
