Polaroid emulsion lift and gold lacquer. The project explores the idea of improvement through destruction, as reflected in the Japanese art of ceramic restoration — kintsugi. Damage is inseparable from an object’s history and can even be beautiful, like scars on the human body. Polaroid film possesses a physical fragility, and the emulsion tears during the transfer process, which helps to reflect the process of these changes.
I’m a fine art photographer based in Kazakhstan. I work in a unique and rare technique, Polaroid Emulsion Lift, which is rarely represented in online galleries and attracts a lot of attention due to its unusual look. My works are based on the analog Polaroid photography technique and will be of interest to a wide range of connoisseurs of quality art photography.
