This series moves between two abandoned industrial sites in the Pearl River Delta: the Qingyuan Fertilizer Plant and Guangzhou's Deshenggang renewal zone. Deshenggang's blocks housed textile and chemical workers from the 1960s. Renewal began in 2025; all residents relocated. The Qingyuan Fertilizer Plant opened in 1961, closed in 2002. Once humans left, banyan trees grew wild. Tangled roots grip concrete, foliage fills vacant windows. Yet as redevelopment advances, these buildings will soon be demolished. Will the trees survive, or vanish with the ruins? Loss and rebirth walk hand in hand.
My creative practice spans photography, lighting fixture design and jewellery design. Through photography, I seek quiet moments where nature, light, and everyday life come together. Rather than documenting scenes, I aim to capture the subtle emotions that exist within them. My photographs reflect a calm and contemplative perspective, inviting viewers to pause and rediscover beauty in the ordinary.
