In the building where I live a small balcony faces the back courtyard. White, plastic-coated wires stretched across a metal frame are used to hang clothes to dry. Sometimes, pigeons also rest on them. I have a washer-dryer that gets the job done in a few hours, but it significantly impacts my electricity bill. My neighbor's balcony gets the job done discreetly without affecting the family budget. It is small, discreet, and humble. But it is hardworking and efficient. The balcony surely has a mundane and repetitive life. Still, it's a reminder that even small things are important in our lives.
