How does one inhabit the painful threshold between an inconsolable loss and the life that, stubbornly, goes on? Through an act of presence: giving shape to the void that has taken over everything, making it visible, tangible, and passable. Grief manifests as a physical process that anchors us to the present, imposing a dense, inescapable permanence. VACUUM is a series of self-portraits born from the emptiness left by the sudden loss of my older sister in June 2024. From the body, through the image, I try to explore that suspended space between absence and the persistence of what was lived.
Kicca Tommasi is a fine art photographer based between Argentina and Italy. She holds a degree in Graphic Design from the Instituto Europeo di Design, Rome and a BA in Photography from the University of Westminster, London. In London she spent most of her professional life freelancing as a Travel Photographer and Art Director. For one year For one year she was Creative Director for Conde Nast UK, Contract Publishing division. In 2008 Kicca relocated to Buenos Aires and since 2018 she divides her time between Rome and Buenos Aires, focusing on her Fine Art work.
