Danxia is a Chinese word that refers to a unique landform in China characterized by reddish sandstone cliffs, valleys, ravines, and other erosional landforms. The most famous Danxia in China is Zhangye Danxia Scenic Spot at UNESCO Global Geopark in Gansu Province where I took this picture. This image demonstrates layers of multicolored mountains where rocks create a stunning striped pattern across the hills.
