After visiting a retrospective of the artist Lyonel Feininger in Frankfurt, I was inspired to translate what I had seen into photography. He particularly liked his Cubist paintings, which he referred to as Prismaism. I had my camera with me and so I set off through the city, which is characterized by high-rise buildings. The weather was favorable as it was completely overcast. Using different types of wiping techniques, each with individual settings and free hand, I photographed the scenery from different points of view in the city.
I am 54 years old and live in Seligenstadt, Hesse. For many years, I worked as a landscape gardener, where I was able to work creatively with nature. Due to tragic events, I can no longer pursue my profession, which gave me time to devote more intensively to photography. Initially, it was primarily while traveling and in nature that I discovered abstract and contemporary photography. With a camera, you can create beautiful, individual works of art; you just have to get involved. This doesn't happen at the push of a button, however; it happens intuitively, based on the situation.
