This series harnesses the raw power of electricity to explore hidden phenomena of the natural world. The intangible, invisible force of electricity communicates directly with the sensitive materiality of silver gelatin paper exposed to light and electrical discharge, exposing unseen, abstract interactions that occur within and around plant life. Electricity, both as a literal force and a metaphorical concept, serves as the foundation of my artistic exploration. Images are made in the darkroom without a camera or lens, using plant forms on silver gelatin paper exposed to electricity and light.

Paula Pink is a photographic artist living in USA. Originally from Scotland, she trained and worked as a graphic designer in London and holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from The New School, NYC. Her work has appeared in national and international exhibitions and is held in several private collections. Experimenting in and out of the darkroom, she is particularly fascinated by patterns in nature, organic forms, and the interconnectivity between all living things. Often working without a camera, her images explore the unforeseen or hidden details that are part of our everyday lives.
