Identitas is a photographic essay that collects portraits of transgender individuals. The subject is always at the centre of the image: it's their story and they are the absolute protagonist. Within this context each individual has identified the setting, the pose and the clothes to wear to express themselves. I asked each person to choose and write a sentence to accompany their portrait that would capture their emotional state. What I want to offer is an authentic image of the subjects i photograph. The individual needs to feel free to express their identity through the image and words.
