Pictured are a group of burrowing owls. Mom is on the left, with a pattern on her breast. The seven chicks are to her right, all with cream colored breasts. Out of sight, dad is perched on a nearby cactus, making sure everyone is safe, secure and well fed. He has a full time job! It took over ten visits to this location before I finally got a total group photo. But the persistence paid off one morning, as one after the other began to pop out of the burrow.

Photographing Colorado wildlife provides adventure in my retirement. Occasionally a few landscapes are thrown in—but searching for and finding, new and interesting wildlife is my obsession.
