Desertification as a metaphor for the state of mind of human beings due to a society overwhelmed by new technologies that have revolutionized our way of living, communicating and working, allowing us to connect with people from all over the world, access a huge amount of information and simplify many daily activities. However, there is a negative aspect that has been overlooked: inner desertification. Many young people are facing a sense of isolation and alienation, human relationships have become increasingly superficial and virtual leading to an absence of authentic connection with others.
