This project, In Search of Nijinsky, explores the essence of Vaslav Nijinsky, the Kiev-born dancer hailed as the greatest of the early 20th century. Renowned for his profound, innovative performances, Nijinsky expressed himself intensely through movement. His 1919 diaries, written before his schizophrenia diagnosis and hospitalization, reveal a torrent of thoughts, as if his dance had turned into writing. I'm captivated by his psychological journey after dance—was movement still his mental language? Through this project, I seek to visualize his inner world, exploring his thought and fears.

I am a dutch photographer, living in the Netherlands. The focus of my practise lies in the memories, human psyche and making emotions, for which we often lack words, visible. Movement is an essential element of my photography and is necessary to capture emotion, but not the goal itself. Many of the images revolve around a deep-seated fear of disappearing, not being seen, or being consumed. Through this, I explore my own experiences with depression and a panic disorder that has played a significant role in my life since 2017.
