Already the fourth generation of Lemkos, representatives of an ethnographic group that has lived in the Carpathians for centuries, do not live on their own lands. In 1944-47, during the forced resettlement and Operation Vistula, about 500 thousand people were expelled from their lands and deprived of their property. Now they are scattered all over the world, but maintain their traditions and culture.
