The remoteness of Bears Ears National Monument in southern Utah, produces exceptionally clear night skies with minimal light pollution. These conditions are ideal for viewing stars as well as earthshine in the shadow of a new moon. Earthshine is sunlight reflected from the earth onto the moon.
