I have long been in love with the vast deserts of New Mexico. The solitude and desolation of the desert gives me a sense of profound peace. The ever-changing light captures my gaze and my imagination. The wind, dust, rock formations, plants and animals conjure up a sense of magic outside of the beauty we can see. A silent magic of sorts. In Spanish and Indigenous cultures a Bruja is a woman who practices a religion called Brujería, often referred to as witchcraft. In this story our model took the form of a Bruja during our photoshoot. We did this series of photographs in Abiquiu, New Mexico.
