"The Memory Shore" is a proposed project documenting the post-tsunami years in northeastern Japan, known as Tohoku, between 2013 and 2023. The project focused on the small town of Rikuzentakata and the surrounding areas devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami where the monster wave nearly flattened the entire municipality. The book attempts to weave a narrative of a shifting landscape during the decade of recovery while illustrating the enduring trauma from the unfaithful event hidden beneath the surface, through photographs and written documents.
