This series documents the work of a group of young people working in a ship graveyard, salvaging pieces of iron from the wreckage to sell to recycling companies. They have no tools or mechanics to pull the heavy pieces out of the water, they just rely on their hands and the strength of their arms. After battling the waves and strong currents, they arrive at the beach exhausted, but they still have to join forces to load the pieces onto fragile motorcycles that take them to the scales to weigh the day's booty
Human condition has always fascinated me and its study has been a main driver in my work. More than an aesthetic purpose, I intend my photography to arouse feelings, emotions, and convey messages, by telling stories that depict suffering or joy, despair or mutual help, strength or disappointment, or simply resilience in the face of adversity and uncertainty about the future.
