The series is about the traditional way of making charcoal and it’s strong and resilient people from the Koli Community in Gujarat, India. For them, there is no other way to live and survive without courage, resilience, unity, physical and emotional strength. The craft is exhausting and dangerous. The heat from the ovens, the toxic smoke, the total lack of any type of infra structure, the huge thorns of the Babul tree(the main raw material used in the production of charcoal), makes them true heroes to me. This series is dedicated to them, their life style and their kindness.
