After taking a digital photo of one of the huge shipping container cranes at the Port of Oakland, California, I did not think much about it until I began to edit it. I began to see some amazing geometric shapes and angles created by the intersection of some of the ascending columns of the crane with the overhead steel cables. The many parallel ascending columns of the crane's architecture also gave the photo an interesting fluid upward dynamic. Since then, I have used that same photo to create some unique abstract versions of it, and I am presenting a few of them here in this series.

My professional background is in university administration. I am an amateur photographer whose interests are primarily in abstract and experimental, modern art photography. I also enjoy more traditional travel-related photography focused mainly in the areas of architecture, nature and landscapes. Some of my early photography accompanied the pages of an online literary magazine. In addition, I am the author of two published mystery novels for which I designed the cover art.
