Although considered solitary, some octopus species appear to be more social. Researchers have documented octopuses gathering in large groups on the seafloor, sharing dens, using color and gesture to communicate, and forming cooperative hunting parties with fish. For this image, I imagined an octopus dancing with a seahorse friend while lavishing in a beautiful, underwater, seascape garden.
Nell's photographs are visual narratives about the importance of protecting our endangered wildlife. Based in Africa, her work features complex montages which tell stories about a species' experience for survival. She grew up in the Deep South, where the preservation of American Southern culture sparked her passion for conservation. She holds a BA degree in Anthropology, a BFA in Film and Photography, and a Masters degree in Architecture. She is a licensed architect and has two published photography books: "Porch Dogs" and "GONE."
