Every year the people of the town of Peñon de los Baños on the outskirts of Mexico City gather for a carnival where all the families of the district celebrate the victory against the French that took place on May 5, 1862 in Puebla, Mexico. They walk through the streets wearing clothes similar to those of the time, to the rhythm of the music, celebrating with whoever passes by. More than a century has passed since that day of victory over the French invasion, however, the celebration of May 5th has crossed borders, being celebrated even in the United States, becoming part of Mexico's culture.
