These solar images are a new beginning series of my astrophotography project: Abstracting Eternity. I use a monochrome high-speed camera and a solar scope with double stack pressure tuners to take the bandpass down to 0.5 angstroms so that I can capture not only the enhancement of the surface details of the sun but also the prominence details, and then stacked from more than 10000 images. Capturing the sun feels very different from capturing the nebulas and galaxies. The strong signals projected from the sun outpower anything else, and the beauty of it is shown in every color and detail on it.
New York-based Chris King left five years of business study to pursue a career in photography and filmmaking. He takes a comprehensive approach to his practice that he finds more fulfilling artistically, working in a range of genres that includes landscape, portraiture, and still life, and is experienced in such technical fields as aerial and architectural photography. His photographs have garnered him numerous international awards, with particular recognition given to his astrophotography.
