For decades, the indigenous people of the Ecuadorian Amazon have risen in resistance against the numerous concessions granted by the government to national and foreign companies for extractive activities. Their fight has been crucial in protecting their lands from the devastating environmental impact caused by oil and mineral extraction. The environmental disaster caused by Texaco's activities, considered the worst oil disaster in history, has driven the communities to persist in their resistance, successfully halting numerous concessions and safeguarding their natural and cultural heritage.
