Taiwan’s defence ministry held a live-fire drill in Pingtung in September to assess the forces’ combat capabilities, as tensions with Peking have been seriously heightened in the Taiwan Strait. Concern over a war between Peking and Taipei has grown in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as Peking increased its military pressure on the self-ruled island after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Aug-visit to Taiwan. Experts say the there will be apocalyptic impacts on the global supply chain across different sectors if a war was initiated by Peking.
Daniel Shou Yi Ceng, 22, is a photojournalist with a focus on conflicts, war and politics. He is currently based in Taipei, Taiwan for several international news agencies, including ZUMA Press.
