My submission, entitled "Influence," is from a work whose subject matter is my life story told collaboratively. The narrative, in other words, is shaped by differing points of view held in tension. To facilitate this decentered, non-ego-driven approach to storytelling, my ‘counter-autobiography’ aligns three conflicting elements on each page: an original street portrait (all photographs are made by me) above an original caption (a thought inspired by the book’s title) above an original 3-line text (creative prose driven by poetry, ideas, memories, and found writing).
