For four months, I've cycled to different areas of London to photograph trans and non-binary people outside their homes. This series is a documentary project about our unique lockdown experiences and the feelings of being separated from our safe spaces and our chosen families. Whilst this work is about covid, I intended to play with atemporal emotions, which we could also relate outside of the pandemic. Hence these large-format black and white photographs suggest a sense of a parallel reality where these portraits might or might not have been taken on a calm and silent Sunday morning.

Emil Lombardo is an Argentinian London based photographer and is currently completing a MA at the Royal College of Art. Emil's work is about body politics, gender and the representation and visibility of dissident identities. Additionally, he is interested in how concepts of legitimacy, privilege and access apply to the Art world. Hence, he confronts private and public spaces by showing his work in galleries and taking over the street with ad-hacking and street art campaigns. Emil believes photography can be a tool for promoting equality and positive change.
