Sadness

My breathing accelerates, catastrophic thoughts come to my mind, my eyes fill with tears and I can't stop crying. Fear, anxiety, my mind racing and I can't stop it. Emotions run high. Crying. Relief... Calm. With this self-portrait I represent those moments when sadness comes over me. Normally they are moments of crying myself out and then I feel calm afterwards. Since the pandemic situation I have noticed that these ups and downs have become more pronounced. Beyond the virus, I think it is important to give visibility to the mental health problems that society is going through.

Merche Moriana (1994, Spain) I am a photographer and visual artist currently living in Seville. My work is inspired by my own experiences and is influenced by nature, Renaissance painting, music and the beauty of emotions as something ephemeral. I use photography as a tool for personal expression and treats my images to insinuate mystery. My works are full of colours, textures and elements that make each image a unique piece.
