Dark mood food photography becomes more and more common, but most photographers use natural light to create such chiaroscuro. Because I generally find still life a bit "boring", I always try to incorporate dynamic elements in order to revive them and make the mood of my scenes more "alive". For this i needed higher speed and thus had to use strobes, which makes balancing shadows a bit more tricky...
