Like cherry blossoms, fuji (wisteria) is a time-honored theme of Japanese painting. Wisteria flowers, as well as cherry blossoms, bloom in clusters. Numerous small flowers bloom under crowded circumstances, which seems to have something in common with the Japanese who rather value organizational capability than individual ability.
